How I went from listener to presenter
I remember the first time I heard KAFO Radio. I was in my room, doing homework, and my older brother had it on. The music was different—local artists I'd never heard before, voices that sounded like they were from my neighbourhood. That was three years ago.
Fast forward to today, and I'm co-hosting Youth Voices every Tuesday and Thursday. It still feels surreal. The journey from listener to presenter wasn't planned, but it's been the best decision I've made.
It started with a call-in during a show. I shared a poem I'd written, and the host, Jamal, asked if I wanted to come in and talk more. That conversation led to me volunteering, then helping with production, and finally getting my own slot.
What I love most about KAFO is that it's real. We're not polished professionals—we're young people sharing our stories, our music, our voices. And that authenticity is what makes it special.
If you're thinking about getting involved, just do it. Whether it's calling in, submitting content, or volunteering, there's a place for you here. Your voice matters.
