Spoken word at the community centre
Last month, KAFO Radio partnered with the community centre to host our first spoken word slam night. The energy was electric.
Over 20 young poets took the stage, sharing their stories, their struggles, their dreams. Topics ranged from identity and belonging to social justice and mental health. Each performance was raw, honest, and powerful.
The event was a huge success. The room was packed, and the audience was engaged from start to finish. We even recorded some of the performances to play on Youth Voices.
What struck me most was the sense of community. These young people weren't just performing—they were connecting, supporting each other, creating something together. That's what KAFO is all about.
We're planning more events like this. The next slam night is scheduled for next month, and we're already getting sign-ups. If you're interested in performing or just want to come and listen, keep an eye on our socials for details.
Art, in all its forms, has a place here. Whether it's music, poetry, or stories, we want to amplify the voices of our community.
